Study - North Sydney - cyclone aftermath
Warriewood Beach,
Northern Beaches, Sydney
Australia
Image Story:
A huge swell batters the Sydney and NSW coast as Cyclone Uesi subsides, Feb 2020.
This morning, some sun is breaking through as forecast, for the first time after 5 days of gale-force winds, high seas, and continuous driving rain.
I love this stuff - the power and fury of the ocean is consuming and raw as it pummels the rocks of Warriewood.
The ocean is angry, spitting up debris ripped off the bottom; even the waves are battering each other sending spray high in the air at different angles.
My tripod struggles with occasional buffeting wind and spray, even though I am some 90m away with a long lens.
After completing this shoot, I just sit down on the rocks, soaked and in awe, enjoying and absorbing the moment.
These big seas are hitting this coast more frequently and more severely, reminding us of the power of nature and our changing climate.
